Spiced Avocado Chocolate Mousse

Spiced Chocolate Mousse

 

Ingredients 

 

  • 1 cup dried dates 

  • 6 cardamon pods - crushed

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice 

  • 1/4  tsp cinnamon

  • pinch of cloves

  • pinch of salt

  • 1/3 cup good quality cocoa powder

  • 2 perfectly ripe large avocados

  • zest of 1 orange

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

To garnish...

 

  • orange segments

  • cacao nibs

  • pistachio nuts

 

  1. Soak the dates  and the cardamon in the orange juice for a couple of hours or overnight if possible.

  2. Pick out the dates from the orange juice and place into a food processor. Pour remaining orange juice through a sieve to remove the cardamon pods and add to food processor. Then add remaining ingredients except for the orange segments, cacao nibs and pistachio nuts.

  3. Process until smooth (3-4 minutes).

  4. Spoon into serving cups or glasses and refrigerate for at least an hour. 

  5. Garnish with nuts, cacao nibs and orange segments.
