Banana and Almond Hotcakes (GF or Paleo Options)

Boxed breakfast cereals have become the mainstay breakfast for most kiwi families.


But unfortunately the original wholegrain that these cereals have been made from are often processed far beyond recognition and as a result they loose most of their nutritional value and taste.

To make up for this fact, manufacturers extrude them at high temperature and pressure into novel shapes and sizes, often add synthetic vitamins/minerals and lots of sugar. The end product can be devoid of nutritional value and detrimental to our health if consumed everyday.


But... the thought of trying to break free from this breakfast rut can be very over-whelming. These little pancakes are just the ticket. So easy to prepare and a real hit with all the family. They are gluten, dairy and refined sugar free, so they tick a lot of boxes for people with intolerances. 


Give them a go! I'm sure they will become a family favourite!

Banana Hotcakes (serves 3-4)



2 large banana's

4 free-range eggs

1/2 cup almond meal or oats

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Place all the ingredients into a blender and whizz on high for a minute until well combined.


Lightly grease a large frying pan and cook on a medium heat until golden on both sides.


Serve with fresh fruit, fried banana and yogurt.
